Sean R. McGowan, Esq. concentrates his practice on all facets of real estate, real estate development and property management, including redevelopment, land use planning and zoning, real estate transactions, commercial lending, landlord-tenant and general business representation. Prior to joining Bertone Piccini, Mr. McGowan served as Vice-President of Development and Legal Affairs for a large New Jersey based commercial developer where he oversaw the development and entitlement process for over 2,000 multifamily residential units, retail and warehouse space, while also helping the company to navigate the various legal and business issues that developers face on a day-to-day basis. Mr. McGowan’s experience working on the executive team at a large developer combined with his experience developing his own projects provide Mr. McGowan with a unique perspective uncommon to the industry, and provides him the ability to focus on the issues that are most important to his clients. “Sean joining our Firm adds true redevelopment experience not just from an ‘outside counsel’ perspective but from an angle our clients really want and need, an in-house ‘developer’ perspective, so that Sean truly knows what it is like to walk in their shoes” says Jeremy Piccini, Esq., Partner at the Firm. Sean is also proud that his relationship with his previous company continues even as he now joins Bertone Piccini.

Mr. McGowan now brings the “business-first” approach that he developed while in-house to his private clients at Bertone Piccini. Mr. McGowan has also operated his own private law practice for the past six years, so working with a variety of clients is not new to him, and he prides himself on his commitment to open and frequent communication with his clients. Mr. McGowan was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey in 2005, and the Bar of the State of New York in 2007. Following law school, Mr. McGowan held a Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable Harriet F. Klein, J.S.C. Chancery Division in Newark, NJ, and then worked as an associate at Tompkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld and Barry, LLP prior to starting his own firm, Sean R. McGowan Law, LLC.

Mr. McGowan undertook his education at Rutgers University and Seton Hall University School of Law prior to commencing his legal and business career. Mr. McGowan continues to be an active alumnus of both Rutgers and Seton Hall, and serves on the Planning Board in his town of residence, the Borough of Caldwell. Mr. McGowan is committed to providing every client with personalized service and the benefit of his over years of legal and business side experience.
