Work Experience
After becoming a licensed attorney in NY and NJ, Mr. Harriman first practiced as an associate attorney for a high powered commercial real estate law firm in Midtown Manhattan. There, Mr. Harriman handled complex commercial real estate transactions throughout the City and also around the USA for the firm’s national clients, including office and retail transactions in Los Angeles, Chicago, Memphis, and throughout Texas.
Thereafter, Mr. Harriman became a partner with a boutique real estate firm in Secaucus, NJ, handling sophisticated development projects in the Meadowlands NJ area.
Before joining, Bertone Piccini, Mr. Harriman was a partner at the McElroy Deutsch law firm where he expanded his practice beyond commercial real estate and focused on corporate transactions, corporate governance and corporate disputes.
Specialized
- Sale, purchase, leasing, ground leases, joint ventures, operating agreements, for commercial real estate in Northern NJ, with particular expertise in medical arts office buildings, warehouse/office industrial campuses, retail strip shopping centers, including national chains as tenants
- Purchase, sale, a joint venture of private companies with sales up to $ 1 billion with particular expertise in specialty chemicals and petro chemicals
- Outside special counsel to public companies providing local NJ law knowledge and local NJ business insight to national companies entering the NJ market or engaging in new projects in NJ
Representative Transactions
- Outside general counsel to country’s largest distributor of hydrochloric acid, selling HCL to industrial users and frackers in Texas, including handling all general corporate matters such as purchase of businesses and companies, HCL purchase and sale agreements, licensing of IP, corporate governance, purchase and sale of industrial real estate around the US
- Leasing and eventual sale of Mahwah, NJ (1 million sq. ft). industrial park for $140 million
- Joint venture of publishing company and then sale of company to Canadian publishing company at transactional value of $150 million
- Negotiating , drafting and closing a cogeneration electrical agreement for the Bayway, NJ refinery with US leading supplier of electrical power
